In November 2024, Zishi Liu took up a recurring residency at Wally’s Café Jazz Club—an iconic cornerstone of Boston’s jazz legacy. Nestled on Massachusetts Avenue, Wally’s is known for its intimate space, dim lights, and electric energy, where audience and artist share the same air.

Liu’s seven-piece ensemble—featuring tenor saxophone, keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums—tapped into the club’s raw, unfiltered vibe, presenting sets that were equal parts exploratory and grounded in groove. Night after night, the group pushed boundaries through deep improvisation, syncopated dialogue, and spirited interplay.
