ZISHI LIU
我 要 你 (I Want You)
The New Single Out Now
Zish’s new single, “I Want You” (我要你), is out now. Released on 28 October to mark the tenth anniversary of the Chinese dark comedy Mr. Donkey, this saxophone interpretation draws on the tenderness and longing of the film’s theme song. At its heart is a simple desire: to have someone close. Zish lets the saxophone carry both the sweetness of that wish and the ache beneath it.
The inspiration lies in the contrast that makes the song so affecting. In the film, Zhang Yiman sings while peeling garlic, tossing the skins into the air like snow—a moment of playfulness and freedom in a story that grows increasingly cruel. That meeting of joy and sorrow is central to Zish’s approach. His arrangement preserves the melody’s warmth while making room for its sadness, offering a personal reflection on desire, innocence and loss.
